Mañana use the latest software development tools from Microsoft, Adobe and the Open Software community employing the following languages and standards:

- Remote Services
operating systems and platforms
We have a great deal of experience working on a many different computing platforms; from current day PCs running Windows and Linux, through Palm Pilots and CygWin and going back to Unix, CPM and DOS and real time multi-tasking O/S's such as PSOS.
databases
- Microsoft SQL Server
- MySQL
- Microsoft Access
program specification
We can help to raise a program specification if that is needed, alternatively we are happy to work to a client's prepared specification.
support
Having worked with a client to produce a program or library, we are always committed to supporting the code, either through an ongoing relationship or on an individual call basis.
web site coding
Mañana is a primarily a programming house. We offer a web programming service to design agencies and web designers.
We are happy to work from a series of web page images, or Fireworks prototypes, or even just a brief specification. Explain what you want the programming to achieve, and we will have the site rapidly programmed and interactive.
All work is carried out in-house in the United Kingdom, no out-sourcing takes place.
web site programming services
- ASP.NET - 2.0, 3.0, 3.5
- ASP

case studies
case 1. 2As' intranet/extranet
The brief- Implement the company's existing management practices with regard to the work schedules, for their on-site engineers, as a secure set of pages on the web, enabling changes to be signaled to those in the field.
- The 2 Microsoft Excel spreadsheets making up the 'work schedule' system were to be continued with, changes to the sheets would need to be made once, occasionally, twice a day.
- Allow communication between engineers and management through the internet, in addition to the email system.
- Costs to be kept to the minimum.
The 'work schedule' web pages were generated from the spreadsheets themselves using complicated Visual Basic macros at the time of editing. These pages were then published into a restricted area on the company's server.
Administrator and engineer log-in pages restricted access to the company extranet.
Using email, for the communication part of the brief, would have caused an undesirably large increase in everybody's postbox. It was decided to use a 'discussion forum' instead; this would allow all parties to initiate messages or leave replies. Mañana wrote all the user forum pages, together with the administration maintenance pages.
case 2. NuTS Palm application
A potential client called inquiring whether we could debug and fix their Palm handheld nutrition application.
We explained to the client that although we had no actual experience of the Palm O/S, we had used the Cygwin development environment which had been used to develop the application. The client needed proof that we were able, quickly, to back up our claims of being capable of doing the work.
Within 2 days we had set up the environment for Palm application development on our hardware, downloading the specialised libraries and tools from the internet; we demonstrated our ability to the client by fixing a known bug in the software and producing the binary files for updating the application.
Having impressed the client with our speed, we negotiated a price and immediately went to work, communicating through email and meetings, fixing a number of existing bugs in the complex nutritional application. These were fixed in fairly short order; we then updated their development source code control (SVN) repositories and enabled the client to take the product to market.
about us
Mañana Software started in 2003 as a vehicle for Managing Director Andrew Woodgate to further a career in program development and information technology.
With over 25 years of computing experience behind him, Andrew has developed applications, services and device drivers using the latest tools available, on diverse platforms such as PCs, Apples, Unix, Palm handhelds, VME systems and bespoke Motorola 68K motherboards.
Working for a technology company for 10 years until 1997, he left the security of employment to start contracting and investigate the Internet and World Wide Web, quickly adjusting to the then new world of web programming and web services using HTML, JavaScript, ASP and XHTML.
Having a high interest in design prompted Andrew to start Mañana Software and add all aspects of web site development to the services he already provided to numerous clients.
Since then Mañana has been keeping up to date with programming languages, database and data technologies, gaining knowledge and experience while using SQL Server, LINQ and XML/XSLT.
